Citing George Millar’s cult action film Mad Max Fury Road as his creative
stimulus, 2017 AHFA Newcomer of the Year Nathan Cherrington presents an
innovative transcript that combines the film’s apocalyptic themes with a killer
high fashion aesthetic. By allowing his storyboard to move away from linear
re-production to the simulation of far more deep-rooted themes and
characteristics, the result is innovative and highly captivating.
Displaying a rich portfolio of skill and technique, the collection oscillates wildly
from commercial to editorial looks, whilst remaining totally cohesive via an
earthy palette in both hair colour and styling. The development of organic
shapes and textures are key within the presentation as the stylist creates
originality in architecture and finish inspired by the five elements of wood, fire,
earth, metal and water. Also noteworthy is the diverse appeal of the collection
that offers a commendable balance of short chewy cuts, billowing long hair
and trending metallic embellishments.
Furiosa is a brave collection by an artist committed to cementing a strong vein
of originality within his work. It is an evolutionary sequel to his 2017 collection
and an insight into a true shape shifter within the future hair fashion universe.
Biography
Hailing from Sydney’s South West, 34-year- old Nathan Cherrington is a
gregarious go-getter, who whilst aiming for monumental heights is fully
committed to walk the lengthy road to get there. With a genuine love for life
and a permanent smile on his face, Nathan is a popular boss, colleague and
friend, his consistent sense of fun, (epitomised in his Instagram handle
@natesthekid) a favourable trait on set and stage.
As Owner /Director of TONI&GUY Concord, Nathan has developed an
impressive reputation in the inner west for a salon service that provides fresh
and fashionable hairdressing that is totally accessible and free from
pretension. Somewhat of a traditionalist at heart, Nathan is authentically
attentive as a stylist and unafraid to champion simple, beautiful hair as a key
asset within his repertoire.
Whilst aspirations in his early career focussed on business ownership and
commercial sustainability, his focus now turns to creative cultivation and a
significant increase in developing his editorial portfolio. His 2017 win as
AHFA Newcomer of the Year provides evidence of his personal flair and also
his ability to recognise that the strength of an image is maximised when the
collaborative team is aligned to a very clear vision.
As a popular graduate of the internationally recognised FAME Team, Nathan
has developed an impressive contact list of creatives, all of whom note his
humble disposition as an endearing trait and his education delivery as
professional yet accessible.
With a keen eye for image making and a natural propensity for identifying the
