Oh what a night! The 2019 Australian Hair Fashion Awards will go down as one to remember for TONI&GUY Australia. With a record-breaking 12 finalists, we were fortunate enough to have 3 winners in some of the most prized categories of the night!
The Australian Hair Fashion Awards (AHFA) are regarded as the industry’s most prestigious competition in Australia. Each year, hundreds of photographic and video submissions are judged by a panel of some of the world’s most celebrated hairdressers in London, including Sam Mcknight, Eugene Souleimon and our very own Cos Sakkas and Efi Davies from TONI&GUY in London. (judging is blind to ensure all of the voting decisions are pure and unbiased). Winners are announced at the annual gala dinner hosted by The Journal, regarded as Australian hairdressing’s “night of nights” at the iconic Luna Park in Sydney.

This year, we took home some of the most sought-after accolades in the awards lineup. First up was a win for Artistic Team of the Year: Katy Reeve, Elizabeth Shedwick (TONI&GUY Paddington NSW), Dion Lee Andrew, Nadia Semanic & Jack Morton (TONI&GUY Georges VIC). Winning this award is truly special as it highlights one of our core company values: the power of teamwork. Fostering creativity and inspiration through teams is what has allowed the company to grow into what it is today, and this award is a testament to our company culture.

We then went on to win not one but TWO State Hairdresser of the Year awards: Jo Smith from TONI&GUY Georges for Victoria, and then Katy Reeve from TONI&GUY Paddington for New South Wales/ACT. Two incredibly talented, dedicated and hard-working women, who are passionate about the art of hairdressing, and inspiring the next generation through education. We couldn’t be prouder of our #TGTRIBE family today!
